Inspiration
One of my goals for Loving From A Distance, is to inspire and motivate other long distance relationship couples. I've shared ideas,
shared my own experience in being in a long distance relationship, etc... but I've found that in sharing the stories and experiences of other couples, these are the ways
that I inspire others the most. Why is this? People see that they are not alone, that there are so many others around the world that are in geographically challenged relationships,
and that brings comfort to a lot of people who visit this site and our forum.
My goal is to improve the image of long distance relationships. People often stereotype LDRs and have the impression that they are depressing and that the distance is unhealthy for a couple. Yes, distance does have its downsides, but there is a silver lining in that little rain cloud!
So I have a couple little projects I think would help me work towards this goal, but I can't do it alone!
Love Letter Gallery
My first project is a love letter gallery. I want to share modern-day love letters written from around the world by couples who are in long distance relationships.
Love letters are one of those little silver linings... not every couple has the opportunity to write love letters the way people in long distance relationships get to do. This will be a page
that will inspire other people in long distance relationships to pick up their pen and write a love letter. To participate in this contest all you need to do is submit an entry to this gallery (you can also submit to
the other gallery which I'll talk about in a moment).
The love letter gallery may include...
- Letters
- Small notes (like a post-it note)
- Envelopes if they are awesomely decorated by the sender
"You know you're in a long distance relationship when..." Gallery
This will be another gallery with images and phrases that display what being in a long distance relationship is all about. Submissions to this gallery can be romantic, silly, fun, and also show
the creativity that goes into keeping a long distance relationship thriving.
This gallery may include...
- Photos/drawings/etc - you cannot submit copyrighted material that you yourself do not own.
- Cute webcam screen shots
- Finish the phrase - if you have a clever ending to "You know you're in a LDR when..." you can submit that as well!
- Video - please upload to Youtube first and send us the link
It's perfectly okay if couples want to work on entries for this gallery together!
About the Contest and How to Enter
You can enter as many times as you like! All you have to do is submit the form below for each entry. Choose the gallery you would like to contribute to (you can do both if you wish), and submit an image (or finish the phrase for the "You know you're in a LDR when" gallery) that you would like to share (always ask permission if you are submitting a love letter that you did not write yourself).Staying anonymous
If you would like to be anonymous, simply write in "anonymous" where it asks for your name.If you would like to make an entry anonymous, a letter that includes names for example, you can blur/black out the names in a image editor if you wish, or you can submit the image to me and specify in the "Words to blur out" field on the form which names/words you want blurred out, and I will do so before posting your entry.
More info
- All submissions must be tasteful and non-offensive.
- Scanned images of love letters are BEST, but if you can take a picture that is VERY clear and readable, then that is okay. If I think it is not legible, then I won't be able include it in the gallery and may ask you to try taking a more clear picture or to scan the letter/note/etc...
