When you at least expect it...

By Evan   4/03/2009

I've never thought highly of LDRs or anything of the sort; I've done it once before and it turned out horribly for both parties.

But I'm a complete 180 now.

It's only been recently that Jay and I have made it official. We've only known each other a short while but I know more about him then I do some of my closest friends. You know what I mean when we totally clicked right? The "only one for you" kind of feeling, he's the person that "gets" you, who understands a lot of what you're talking about, the amazing feeling when they look into your eyes and you know you are going to be together forever. Also you know that feeling you get when you get when you just start chatting to someone, you know you're going to enjoy talking to them? Then you slowly go step by step, video conferencing, then talk on the phone and finally physically meeting.

Well that's pretty much how our relationship went. We've met online through a mutual friend AND through Plenty of Fish. My friend Chris mentioned that he had a friend who was going to do the same thing I'm going to do in college this fall, he mentioned his name and that was that... nothing really more spoke about it. A few weeks later I messaged Jay on POF (not knowing it was him of course) and the only reason I did was because he mentioned about taking the same course in college as me this fall (At that time I didn't put two and two together) so I messaged him and he replied in a timely manner and asked if my name was Evan. I kind of got a little sketchy at this point but replied and told him that I was, in which he replied that Chris talks about me all the time.

It kind of makes me laugh every time I think about the whole situation, but alas we added each other to MSN and started chatting (and the best thing about having a mutual friend in common is the little inside information). We chatted for at least 4 hours, minimum, a day for two weeks or so and decided that we should define what we are and also meet.

So we officially became a couple as of March 7, 2009. A week or so after that I hopped on a bus for a long 10 hour bus ride across the island to see him. I spent a little longer than I was supposed to (half because I wanted to stay there forever and half because I didn't want to take another 10 hour bus ride and be thinking about the whole weekend) but we had an amazing weekend full or various activities especially seeing as we both are very adventurous and outdoorsy! Thankfully, this is only a temporary LDR because he's moving to the East Coast in my city in the next few months!
