She and I...
By Jon   4/03/2009I have started this story three times now. I still don't know how to put it into words.
I guess I'll just tell the facts. I live in Washington U.S.A and she lives in Pune, India. She is literally just about as far away as a person can get from me before they would start coming back.
It started with her messaging me about a funny picture I had on this other website. I simply wrote back. "Thank you, glad you liked it." Then in the matter of one week we were emailing, messaging and swapping pictures. Still to this day I am blown away by it all. Every day I am shown what love is meant to be.
I still have never met her face to face. We hope to sometime this year. Just as soon as I get my passport she and I will work on finding me a plane ticket. I have heard a lot about relationships online. I have never heard of one actually working. But with each day, week and month that would pass I found myself making wishes on anything I could find, by tossing pennies in fountains, staying up late to wish on a star, waiting for my clock to hit 1:11, or 2:22, or 3:33 ect. so I could have a wish moment.
I don't expect this to make sense to anyone else. I don't expect anyone to understand it. I am not even sure why I am writing this. I found this site on Twitter. haha And I got to reading it and out of the 71 activities that we could do to help with the long distance relationship we have done 112 of them. haha Kidding, but we have done most of them. (except the "make a baby site" haha the kids on there scare me. Haha, she and I laughed awhile on that)
Anyway point is, it doesn't have to be hard. I mean you will have those days where it feels like "our someday" will never come. On those days we are just there for each other. We spend a little extra time chatting or do little things to help. Each day I wake up and smile and think I am one day closer. Each day I get to chat with her. About once a week we get to talk to each other. (I love how she says Pune, India in her little Indian accent... haha)
"People are like stars. They're billions of them, but only one will make your wishes come true."
This relationship has taught me to not take anything for granted. She sent me a letter the other day. She could've emailed me. She could've told me about what she wrote when spoke on the phone. But she didn't. She went and spent a lot of money (it's expensive to mail from India to America) It wasn't even about anything other than the normal things she and I talk about. But it was hand written, not typed. Little things like that. The extra things that we don't have to do, but we want to.
I DON'T wonder if she and I will ever be together someday. I know it. I don't know when, I don't know how just yet, but whatever we have to do, however long we have to wait, I know she is worth it.
Thanks for taking the time to hear our story.
Jon
