Found Love Via DeviantArt.com

I met Neil in August 2006 on deviantART.com. He had somehow stumbled upon my user page and looked through my art work, then left a comment telling me that he thought my work was unique and interesting and topped it off by adding me to his friends list. In return, I visited his gallery and left comments as well, not forgetting to return the favor by adding him to my friends list also. No big deal, I did this often. Nothing special, but I always looked forward to having new friends.

He wasn't very active in submitting art or journals until the fall, though. (I, on the other hand, was overflowing my friend's inboxes haha.) Eventually, he started doing more, giving me more chance to build a better friendship with him and talking to him more. I recently read our old conversations and realized we'd had a little flirtation ...which I guess I was oblivious to him at the time. I didn't really pay attention to it, but I was growing to like him more than a friend and looking forward to getting replies from him. Then the unexpected happened.

On the late, chilly night of February 13th, 2007 (It was the 14th for him, though, he's 5 hours ahead of me.) while joking and even flirting a little ...he told me that he felt attracted to me. I didn't know what to say, I hadn't expected anything like that from him. I also wasn't quite sure about it, either. Michigan and England are very far away, and we're pretty young. I let him know this and he asked if I'd at least be his Valentine, which I accepted to. We made little gifts for each other and talked almost all day. He assured me that everything would resume to normal after that. And it did. I wasn't sure what to feel about it, but I tried my best to keep my feelings under control.

That spring, almost summer, I couldn't take it anymore. The flirting had started up again. I asked him if he still felt the same way he did months before, and he did. We decided that day to see how a long distance relationship would work. We had both been in one previous relationship before and neither had worked out. (At least he had a real relationship, I was used to make an ex-girlfriend jealous. Boo hoo.)

Everything was going PERFECTLY until we had to be separated from August 2007 to January 2008 because of a letter he had sent to me that my step-mother discovered, but that's behind us now.

We have never had a big fight or anything like that. We never experienced that "dreaded 3-month-mark" thing either. He is the sweetest guy and I love receiving little notes from him. (Especially if those "Little notes" aren't so little haha.) I feel kind of lonely sometimes because he's working hard for money to be able to see me around this December, but I know he's doing it all for me and the times I get to see him more than make up for it. I know he wouldn't do anything to hurt me and we trust each other very much. I love him to death and wouldn't trade our relationship for anything in the world. <3

(NOTE: We are both active on our deviantART accounts haha. I am still overflowing inboxes though, especially his. :D)
