He said it straight up

Filed under: Sweet Words, Tender Moments — Michelle @ 11:44 pm

After five long years of loving him secretly, Donald asked me out and we were just perfect for each other. Two days after we got together, we were outside, gazing at the stars talking to each other, it started out as “I LIKE you this much” and I’d say well, “I LIKE you this much.” Then we started saying “I heart you this much” and so on… after a while I screwed up and accidentally said love, so I got all nervous and tense about it and he said, “Well I know this is a big word… but I just straight up LOVE you.” And I will never forget that night.

Sunflowers

Filed under: Heart-Melting Gifts, OUR FAVORITES!, Surprises, Sweet Words — Michelle @ 11:41 pm

Well, my name is Vanessa and my boyfriend is Sam. I’m from Colombia and he is from Denmark, we met during the summer in 2007 while we both attended a summer camp for exchange students. I was starting my year abroad and unfortunately he was done with his experience and finally going back home. We liked each other and we left campus after 15 days.

We have been dating 10 months now; we started talking in September after camp, and we started dating in February 08. Sam has visited me in Colombia 2 times now and I’m going to Denmark to spend Christmas together.

My story is that here in Colombia we have a special day for women, so that day females are surrounded by flowers and cute stuff from their partners. At my school there was a guy hitting on me, so he gave me 30 red roses (not my favorite flower) that day at school, with a note saying that each rose represented that he cares about me every day of the month. However I never payed attention to the guy, so I told Sam about the flowers.

He got really sad and freaked out since he didn’t know we had that tradition here in Colombia during the month of March. During Easter break, I went to my hometown to visit my mom, dad and brother….

When I got home my room was filled up completely with sunflowers (MY FAVORITE) and a teddy bear laying in the bed with a note.
He asked my mom to help him out and of course she did, so the note was written in her handwriting….

Sorry it’s not a Special day in Colombia, but to me is always special as long as you are letting me show you how much I love you and care about you. So, I got you 469 sunflowers. They mean how much I love you every day I spend without you. So here goes my math, but numbers are infinite, like my love for you,
-in 2007
120 (days since we left camp)
-in 2008
349 (days of the year taking off our plans for May and October)

P.S. if I come and surprise you before, then you OWE me sunflowers babe!!! :P:P

So yes, this was the cutest thing that anyone has done for me…. and so far, I owe him sunflowers hahah

Thanks,
P.S. Sometimes its hard, but just think about the moments you guys have been together, then everything is worth the fight against distance!

An analogy

Filed under: Sweet Words — Michelle @ 11:39 pm

Well my boyfriend and I began as penpals, both of us never having been in a relationship. I’m nineteen, twenty on December fourth, and he’s twenty three so the prospect of our connection was beyond exciting. This is something he wrote me in one of his letters:

I’ve never had a complete focus or unity in my “wants” until recently in the form of you. Okay, let me compare it to artwork. I haven’t thought this analogy/parable all the way through so bear with me…. You’re like my David (the sculpture), instead of my Mona Lisa (the painting); Mona Lisa is, no question, beautiful and awe-inspiring but it’s still an unfinished work and no matter what the beauty of it, it’s still only two-dimensional, it’s appeal can’t be seen or felt from the opposite side of the canvas…. it’s only a facade. Now the David is three dimensional, 360 degrees of perfection, no matter what angle you view it from your struck by it’s beauty and force. So with other women, yes, face value they were appealing to a certain degree, but when viewed from this or that angle they were extremely lacking. Now you’ve presented me with the first representation of a woman who I find remarkable on several if not all levels. When I sit and think about you I’m just astonished at how amazing you are and I’m relatively sure that you’re the reason I’ve been single up till now…. hope that explains it somewhat more…

“Just picture this…”

Filed under: Sweet Words, Tender Moments — Michelle @ 11:37 pm

One night recently, I was pretty stressed out. I was getting flack from my family about the LDR we’re in, behind on work, and nervous about our upcoming Christmas visit where we’ll be celebrating the holidays with his extended family. I was to the point of tears with frustration and completely venting all over him through IM.

He’s pretty logical, so it’s understandably a bit uncomfortable for him when I get completely emotional. He usually just “hugs” me and lets me get it all out. This time, he hit just the right spot when he said, “Just picture this. In ‘x amount’ of days, you’ll be here, snuggled against my fuzzy chest in front of the fire with two empty cups of homemade eggnog on the floor beside us.” So, I closed my eyes and picture being there with him again, and all the stress and worry just melted away. I thought it was the sweetest thing and it just turned my whole night around. ^_^

Friendship

Filed under: Sweet Words — Michelle @ 11:36 pm

He said, “Just remember that I’m gonna be with you as your best friend first, even when we are going through hard times, I promise you that we will find our path and our friendship will prevail above everything…”

A song he wrote

Filed under: Heart-Melting Gifts, Surprises — Michelle @ 11:33 pm

The week my boyfriend became my boyfriend, I fell in love with a wonderful talent that he has. He plays guitar and sings really well, and even writes his own music. He sang love songs to me and even wrote one just for me.

Well, now we don’t see each other very much, but he is still writing love songs. Just this week he called me and sang his most recent one to me over the phone. I would have much rather been able to be with him to hear it, but I couldn’t, and it was still so touching to me. Although I had the biggest smile on my face I’ve ever had, I couldn’t keep the tears from rolling down my cheeks.

For a 17 year old guy, he always amazes me with how sweet, thoughtful, and sensitive he can really be.

A care package

Filed under: Heart-Melting Gifts, Surprises — Michelle @ 11:26 pm

When my boyfriend was playing baseball on the other side of the country, he sent me a gift package for no reason at all! In the box was my favorite perfume and lotion, 2 huge bags of my favorite candy, and 2 of my favorite lip glosses. (He was on the phone with me as I was shopping and he heard me say how much I loved the Victoria Secret lip plumpers but they were too expensive so I didn’t buy them. Then he sent me two because he couldn’t decide on a color!) He also sent me a beautiful card with the box that ended with “You are the love of my life and I’m going to spend the rest of my life with you!” Aside of all of this, he also had a dozen roses delivered to my house from a local florist! After not seeing him for a while, this was so encouraging to know that he cared this much for me and that he put in all the time and effort to do this!

He fed me

Filed under: Heart-Melting Gifts, Kind Gestures, OUR FAVORITES!, Surprises — Michelle @ 11:24 pm

I’m a starving college student and recently I ran out of money for food, something I had never thought possible. Without telling me he packed a box full of food and sent it to me with a small note that said: “for just pennies a day I can feed a college student!” Thanks to him (and of course my highly developed radar for free food around campus) I am eating well! :)

A heart

One day my boyfriend sent me an email in it with a computer paint drawn heart in it, saying that he had given me his heart, I found this really amazingly sweet because it bears relevance to him because of his love of computers so everything has to be virtual. On my birthday he got his brother (his brother still lives near me because it was only my boyfriend who moved away to go to university) to put something in my locker for me to find. I found out that it was a hematite heart on a silver chain…with a letter saying that this was the more tangible version of his heart, saying that I should have that I had already stolen from him. It made me smile constantly for the rest of the day and it made up for him not being there cause I knew that I had his love around my neck.

Another thing that he is done, considering that my boyfriend is a student on a small budget, he downloaded my favorite film off the internet so that we could watch it together the first time I went to see him, it was so lovely, and I ended up being happy and surprised at the same time because he remembered the film.

A Webcam Moment

Filed under: Sweet Words, Tender Moments — Michelle @ 11:17 pm

One time we were talking up a storm on our webcams and all of a sudden he just goes quiet. I looked into his eyes and smiled to which he couldn’t contain his own smile. I asked him what he was thinking about and he looked straight into the camera and simply said “you”. I don’t think I’ve ever wished harder that I could just climb through the computer screen and embrace him. I asked what he would do if I were there at that very moment and he replied with something I had never heard in my life. I thought the response would be filled with sexual innuendos but he said something completely different. He told me he would try to remember everything about me because he knew he wouldn’t get such a chance very often. He said first he’d try to remember the feel of my skin and then the smell of my hair and everything one can do to remember a person. It was the sweetest thing I ever heard anybody say and it completely melted my heart then and there.
