61. Save those nice texts :)
Your phone only holds so many texts, and it can be hard to delete those very sweet texts our boyfriends/girlfriends send us sometimes. You don't have to do it anymore though! :) Check out TreasureMyText.com, a free service that lets you save your text messages! Here is how it works:You forward SMS messages by SMS to a standard mobile number in either USA and Canada, The United Kingdom or The Netherlands. Just pick the one for your country or wherever it is cheapest to SMS to. Check with your network operators about charges. Once you've signed up for an account, when you login all your messages will be there. You can organise them, publish them elsewhere and share them in a public TextStream page.
62. Make conversation.
Many people have written questions to us and I'd say that one of the more common complaints we hear is that their conversations get dull over time. If you find yourself having a lot of silent pauses and don't know what to say, here's a list of conversation starters you might have fun with: Conversation Starters... What If?63. Make them a song.
Sommer shared with me how her long distance boyfriend wrote her a song and played it for her on his guitar. For those that are musically inclined, I'm sure this idea has crossed your mind. But if you're not good with instruments and can't carry a tune in a bucket, then this website might be able to help you out a bit. JamStudio.com is a flash based program that allows you to make your own songs with their hundreds of pre-recorded sound clips. Pick from a variety of intruments, choose your own chords, tempo, and more. There is a sample song of a featured artist on that page so you can see how limitless your possibilities are.Check out FruityLoops and Acid if you want to use a more advanced program (they cost money, but both have free trials).
Rock on! :)
64. Take a free class together.
You can expand your knowledge and do something as a couple at the same time! There are tons of free online courses that you can take from schools such as Yale, MIT, and Tufts. Completely free of cost. Who'd a thunk it? Here's an awesome site with a list of 200 free online courses such as "The Fundamentals of Physics," "Earthquakes," "Spanish," "Introduction to Philiosophy," "The Sun," and there's even a course called, "Death." So many cool classes! You have to check it out. I'm sure you and your long distance love can find a course that you both can enjoy learning together :) 200 Free Online ClassesAlso check out Guide To Online School's list of free courses. They also have a very intersting collection including Street Fighting Mathematics, American Soap Operas, Animal Behavior, Does Prison Work?, plus many others.
65. Make a list.
Sometimes I daydream about the things I want to do with Frank when we get to see each other again. I'll see a preview for a movie I think both Frank and I will like. During a drive in town I see a place I'd like to go with him. I get an idea for an awesome vacation we can go on when we have enough money. And Frank always tells me he wants to take me to a place in particular, but you know what? Even though we have put those things down on our mental "to do" list, we probably forget half the things we wanted to do together... And it is funny because often when we're together we can't think of anything to do! So here it comes... Idea #65... Make a list. This idea was suggested by Erin who recommends a great site:Something that my SO and I have been doing is compiling lists of things we can do when we're together. We use Ta-Da List, a free online to-do list tool. It's simple to use. You can create lists for pretty much anything on there.
So go ahead! Think away! What do you want to do with your boyfriend/girlfriend? Are there any goals you want to set for your relationship? I'm sure you both will be able to come up with a ton of things you want to do together when you finally get to see each other in person again (of for the first time) :)66. Quiz each other.
Find out how much you really know by quizzing each other. Websites like MakeAQuiz.net can make this really easy and lets you create quizzes with multiple choice answers. Just start thinking about little things about yourself that you think they may not know, along with some questions they should know but you want to see if they remember. Exchange quizzes. I'm sure you'll both learn little things about each other you didn't know before. :) Now do you think Frank will remember what my favorite TV show in the 90's was?67. Get a Mizpah Charm.
Normally I don't include things on this list that are not free. But I discovered mizpah charms today and felt like sharing. :) People often come to us asking for gift suggestions and this certainly can be a meaningful gift for those in long distance relationships. "Mizpah" is an emotional bond between two people that are separated and "mizpah" jewelery signifies this bond. Charms will often have the quote: "The Lord watch between me and thee when we are absent one from another" or just "Mizpah." The charm is in two pieces and each person wears a part of the charm. They range a lot in price and I found them for $7.95 and higher.68. Send your love on a hunt :)
This idea comes from MoMo:I came up with a wonderful idea thanks to your site today! It's called a scavenger hunt. I started it off by sending my boyfriend an email telling him to look at my pictures on this website we use. When he finished looking through my new pictures of love quotes and sayings, the last one asked him to go to my YouTube account and read my profile which then gave him a link to a love song. On the video comments I asked him to go check his YouTube inbox which had a link to a picture I edited that asked him to check his picture's comments on a site. The comment asked him to go back to YouTube and watch a certain favorite video (love song) and the comment of that love song gave him link to a poem and so on and so on. It's cute, little hidden messages and love poems, songs and photos. Send your love on a little hunt ^_^
69. Tweet.
I got an account on Twitter for this website, and I've realized what a great tool it could be for those in long distance relationships. People constantly update what they're doing at the moment via the web, text, or other third-party applications. You follow the "tweets" as they are called of the people you want. By following your long distance boyfriend/girlfriend's tweets you can stay constantly updated. It can be an alternative to text messaging if you can't afford a text messaging plan, after all Twitter is free to use. So join! Be sure to follow us to get website updates and to be able to participate in our contests! Click here to visit our Twitter page..70. Send a message in a bottle.
